Can new packaging be made exactly like an original sample?
An original sample is a valuable target, but “exactly the same” must be translated into measurable specifications. Structure, paper, colour, print, finish and assembly are reviewed separately, then brought together in a physical approval sample before bulk production.

Matching process
Six steps from reference sample to production standard
1. Inspect the sample
Review construction, dimensions, paper thickness, print, finish, adhesive, opening and assembly details.
2. Rebuild the specification
Create or verify the dieline, finished dimensions, board grade, grain direction, inserts and assembly method.
3. Identify visible targets
Record colour references, texture, gloss, foil, embossing, windows and other features that affect appearance.
4. Confirm available equivalents
If the original material or process is unknown or unavailable, propose the closest practical option and explain the difference.
5. Produce an approval sample
Use a structural blank, digital sample or finished sample according to the risk and the details that need confirmation.
6. Freeze the standard
Approve the dieline, artwork, material, finish, assembly and acceptable tolerance before bulk production begins.
Comparison priorities
Four questions determine how closely the sample can be matched
Is the original still representative?
Old paper, faded ink, worn lamination and deformation can make an aged sample unreliable as the only standard.
Is the same material available?
A similar-looking paper may differ in stiffness, white point, texture, grain or purchase quantity.
Which features are critical?
Dimensions, colour, feel, opening action, load protection and finish should be ranked so the important details receive the right controls.
Is the artwork reproducible?
Low-resolution images or missing fonts and dielines may require reconstruction and buyer approval before sampling.
FAQ
Original-sample matching questions
Can you copy the structure if there is no dieline?
The structure can usually be measured and rebuilt, subject to sample condition, functional complexity and testing with the actual packed product.
What if the original paper cannot be identified?
We compare thickness, stiffness, colour, coating and texture, then propose an available equivalent for physical approval.
Can production begin without a new sample?
For a changed supplier or reconstructed specification, a new approval sample is strongly recommended before bulk production.
Can you reproduce a branded sample supplied by another company?
Only when the buyer has permission or other valid rights to use the branding, artwork and design elements provided for production.
